What is Acoustic Door?

A door with a barrier of sound with the capability of ventilating naturally and lower down the noise levels like traffic with a rigid construction which reduces the chances of a fire or a smoke spread out is Acoustical. The Designing and Implementation:

The Acoustic Doors are measured and compared using the Sound Transmission Class (STC) ratings which defines the sound reducing quality of the doors. The damping compounds in between the layers of the Acoustic Door increases the loss of transmission.

The Myths:

The STC ratings of these doors are not only meant to judge the quality but they define the requirement for specific sites of use. An STC40 may works good enough in a hotel room but with a home theatre, this rating would not fulfil the purpose of the door.

Also, the purpose of the insulation is to create a barrier from the noises outside. This doesn’t mean that the room will be the most silent place in the world. These Acoustic Doors only deal with the airborne noises. The noises from a neighbour’s garden may still be audible. 

For sites with noise being a problem, the Acoustic Doors are the best possible way to avoid it. Be it a household or a legal requirement, these doors act as the best insulators to negate effect of the noise pollution. The same concept is being treated on windows, walls and ceilings as well.
